The Olympic Tavern is a Rockford tradition, a family owned & operated bar & restaurant serving Rockford's North End residents and travelers great drinks and food in a fun, casual atmosphere since 1945.

We are currently hiring for a full-time (or two part-time) front end hosts for dinner shifts and maybe a few lunch shifts. Hosts are responsible for greeting guests, controlling the seating / flow of the restaurant, taking reservations, and answering phones. This is one of the most important jobs in the restaurant, as you are the first and last point of contact with the customer, and you control the flow of guests into our business.

The host must know our food menu as well as any server, as they'll be taking and fulfilling to-go orders. Hosts may also help run food from kitchen to tables, set up large parties, make sure temperature and lighting are set appropriately, perform basic cleanup and other duties that make for a great customer experience.

Host shifts are generally 4pm-9pm -- sometimes earlier or later, depending on the day and crowd volume. As we add lunch shifts back into our service schedule, day shifts will be available too, generally 11am-230pm.

The ability to stay cool under fire is especially important when handling lots of customers at once, handling a waitlist, helping fulfill to go orders and assisting waitstaff in clearing tables. We'd love a candidate with previous restaurant experience, but we will train the right candidate if they show the right personality and drive. This is also a great opportunity to get into serving or bartending, as we always attempt to promote from within.
